Dice Cup
English or French
ca. 1770 – 1810
Playing dice was a popular pastime. This leather covered cup was used to store, shake, and roll out the ivory dice. As in any army, gambling and its related problems occurred in camp. General Washington, always mindful of the importance of order and discipline, drafted numerous orders directed at stopping "gaming" throughout the Valley Forge encampment.
